the ocean called…

i thought i’d chronicle the seafood spectacular i expected after a luck-heavy trip to sainsbury’s yesterday. the woman behind the meat counter gave me an extra burger (free) and i bought 2kg of shelled prawns for about £2.

it began.

it began.

i put on an episode of spaced to pass the time de-shelling and got to work pulling off heads/legs.

pilot ends.

pilot ends.

i assumed i knew what to do and that it would be easy. 24mins later i’d done about 20, i’m starting to bore and i’ve caked my wrists in leg parts and orangey brown stuff (brain?). i wanted to play with the prawns more than de-shell. i digress.

hot tub.

hot tub.

three episodes later.

three episodes later.

i was getting pissed at this point and my back hurt. it was the paintball/colin episode (“you’ve got an answer for everything“), finally i finished and moved onto the easy stuff.

yummo.

yummo.

marinate

marinate

i’d never tried this particular method before (ie, the lemon) but had made fruit de mer a bunch of times and it rules. i would love to show you the fantastic meal i cooked at the end of all this. i would. unfortunately, it tasted like lemony chew-fish with spaghetti. i’ve got enough to last until the end of the week. honestly, there’s loads.

eat well.
